Intensive ABA Therapy

What is it?

Currently recognized as the most effective treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder, ABA (applied behavior analysis) therapy focuses on addressing behaviors of social significance by utilizing evidence-based procedures rooted in the science of applied behavior analysis. We focus on addressing skills that increase sociability, communication, and decrease challenging behaviors. We ensure all behavior support and skill acquisition plans are individualized to your child’s specific needs. Children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder may engage in behaviors that can be challenging or create a barrier to further development. Many of these behaviors are correlated with certain skill deficits. We address these challenging behaviors by identifying their function, building skill repertoires, and teaching replacement behaviors. The goal of our ABA therapy is to equip your child with the necessary skills to navigate and engage with their environment. We currently provide ABA therapy within the home and community setting.

Assessment

Before the onset of treatment, information is collected from parents and caregivers to gain more information about the child. We also collect data through direct observations and an assessment with the child to assess their skill strengths and weaknesses. A Functional Behavior Assessment is also conducted to identify the function of certain behaviors that may be challenging or barrier to further development. The data is then analyzed and a behavior support and skill acquisition plan is developed utilizing evidence-based procedures to address behaviors and build skill repertoires.

Treatment

Your child’s treatment team is led by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who is assisted by the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). The BCBA designs the behavioral support plans and procedures. The RBT is responsible for working directly with the child and implementing the plans and goals outlined in the behavior support and skill acquisition plan. The RBT receives ongoing support and supervision from the BCBA. The BCBA monitors the data and makes treatment recommendations based on the data collected. The BCBA also provides weekly parent training and coaching.

Parental Involvement

Parental involvement is vital to a child’s development and ability to maintain skills. We provide ongoing parent training and coaching to help parents better understand interventions, implement procedures, and maintain skills taught. Parent training and coaching is provided on a weekly basis by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Parental goals are established by considering the value of the parents and the child’s needs. Parental goals are monitored through data and feedback is consistently provided to ensure you as the parent are equipped to help maintain your child’s success.
